Hello!

Andrea Pešková
Leader of the project
Andrea is a postdoctoral researcher at the Freie Universität Berlin and a private lecture at the Universität Osnabrück, where she completed her post-doctoral studies in 2020. Since then, she has held visiting professorships in Osnabrück, Hamburg and Vienna. In her recent research she focuses on phonology and prosody of Italian and Spanish; language contact and second language acquisition belong to her main areas of interest.

Vincenzo Pagano
Student assistant
Vincenzo is currently studying Italian philology at the Freie Universität Berlin. His background in sound design and audio engineering give him a solid knowledge of acoustics and high curiosity in phonetics, phonology and prosody. Previously working as an English, German and Italian teacher, he also focuses on language acquisition and is very motivated to conduct further research in the fields of linguistics and didactics.

Clara Mund
Student assistant
Clara is a student of Italian philology at the Freie Universität Berlin. Having worked as a student assistant in an adjacent field, she is eager to broaden her perspective on other linguistic topics, including the phonological phenomena researched in this project. Her academic interests also extend to empirical linguistics, particularly in the areas of language variation and experimental approaches to phonology.

Sonia Šimko
Student voluntary assistant
Sonia assisted with organizing participants and coordinating experiments in Helsinki. She is trilingual and interested in all different languages.
(Tet-harjoittelia).

Eleonora Manzon
Student voluntary assistant
Eleonora holds a Master’s degree in Linguistics from Sapienza University of Rome (2022/2023) and is currently doing an internship (Erasmus + Traineeship Mobility) at Freie Universität Berlin (by Prof. Sascha Gaglia). She has a strong interest in linguistics and its broad field of study, with a particular focus on experimental approaches. She is especially interested in interdisciplinary approaches that combine linguistics and psychology, exploring how language interacts with cognitive processes.

Vincent Keyaniyan
Student support (statistics)
Vincent is studying statistics in the joint master’s programme of the HU, FU, TU and Charité in Berlin. After completing his bachelor’s degree in psychology, he gained experience in research and business, contributing to scientific articles, taking on data engineering tasks and designing, conducting and analysing surveys. As a member of the fu:stat team at FU Berlin, he advises academics on statistical questions. He is especially intrigued by delving into diverse areas of statistics, with a particular interest in qualitative fields such as linguistics.

Ariadna Benet
External data scientist
Ariadna has transitioned into data science with a recent Data Science Bootcamp, combining it with her strong background in empirical research and analytical thinking. She has been active in research and teaching in linguistics since 2005, holding academic positions at the University of Hamburg, the University of Osnabrück and the University of the Balearic Islands. Her PhD focused on the prosody of spontaneous speech, and her work also includes research in phonetics, phonology, language contact and second language acquisition, mainly involving Catalan and Spanish.

Yuri Ferretti
External student assistant
During his studies of Russian, German, English, and Italian, Yuri discovered a strong passion for linguistics — especially phonetics and phonology. His interest in how human beings produce sounds led him to the University of Potsdam, where he is currently studying Patholinguistics. Languages have always been his passion, and he has started learning many more than necessary, driven by curiosity about their grammar and structure.
